The Duffs are descended from the original Gaels who inhabited thehighlands of Scotland long before the Roman invasion and the Christian era. The Duffs are descended from the original Gaels who inhabited thehighlands of Scotland long before the Roman invasion and the Christian era. Their ancient Gaelic name, Dhuibh, is pronounced ‘Duff’ and signifies dark hair. Duffs were Highland Picts, a painted people adorned with colorful body paint and tattoos. Picts also left mysterious carved stones that display symbolic artwork. The people of Britain and the lowlands of Scotland were originally from France and southern Europe, but the Highlanders kept themselves apart and did not mingle with the lowlanders.
The Duffs were of German Catti ancestry, the Kournaovioi Tribe, who occupied the north peninsula of Caithness and later moved south into Moray below the Moray Firth. The first official record of the Thanes of Fife was written in the year 838 A.D. At that time Kenneth MacAlpine, who bore the blood of both Pictish and Scots-Irish Kings, united two Scotland. MacAlpine’s Pictish mother was off the house of Duff. His father descended from

MacDuffDSR is a region in good standing (FL GA MS AL) of the National organization Clan MacDuff Society of America, Inc. When you join, membership is for both levels, and valid in all other regions ! We STRONGLY encourage you to exercise your membership at the local, state, regional and national levels. This includes attending and serving the great people of the community at games via volunteer and elected positions !

We are excited to celebrate the Highland Games and raise a toast to Scotland. Our honored guests go to the next level, because they manage, distill, and preserve it! To lead the games, they travel from Scotland to (re)unite people of Florida with stories of the Duff and a local 12c Tironen French Abbey that served Robert the Bruce, Isabella Duff, King Malcolm III, and William Wallace.
